Truth

Picture"Invisible" by Artist Laura Williams
If the truth hurts, let it hurt.  If the truth scars, let it scar.  If the truth is that painful, we have a lot of work to do.

What is the truth?  The truth is something you'll never fully find.  But that doesn't mean you shouldn't spend your life pursuing it.

I remember in the middle of one of my pep talks, I noticed you were getting angry.  You trembled with frustration.  "What's wrong?" I asked.  "Nothing", you replied.  You either wouldn't or couldn't tell me.  I wasn't sure which one.  The only thing I did know, was that I had gone too far.  "I'm sorry", I said.  I wanted to explain my motivation, but I knew that would only lead to another lecture.

I want you to remember to always pursue the truth.  It's not always easy.  The truth is often painful to ourselves and others.  Others may come to you seeking the truth.  It is not yours to give.  You only have your perspective to offer.  They must find the truth for themselves.

The truth exists, and the pursuit of it will give meaning to your life.

(Thank you Laura for granting permission to use your hauntingly beautiful photo.)

Is the truth subjective? (from a response to a comment on Inspiration).

The truth is reflected back to us in many ways. When we look in the mirror; what we see in other people; when we dream. It's not so much that the truth is subjective but, just as we see with Time, the truth can exist in more than one place at once. It is relative. This is why so many of us have difficulty with the truth. Some choose to have faith, some choose to express the truth with Art, and others just decide to dismiss the existence of truth altogether. Scientists struggle with the circular reasoning of truth, Artists express the truth as they see it in a moment in time, and those with Faith simply accept that they will never fully grasp the truth - but they know the truth exists. Indeed, one can become lost in the truth if they spend too much time trying to make sense of it.

There are many who seek the truth, and many more who are lost in distraction.

Beware of those who believe that they have the truth, for they are the most dangerous of all.

Beware of those who tell you the truth does not exist, for they may lead you astray.

Some describe it as "pushing the limits", but really it's just seeking the truth.

Truth is not found in a theory. It is revealed through the respectful questions and dialogue that follow.

Knowledge is not necessarily a subset of the truth.
