How can I recognize a distraction? There are too many distractions to list. Some are more destructive than others. Some can even lead to a life of addiction and pain. One thing that they have in common is that they don't leave you with much.
I spoke to you about distraction a lot while you were growing up. Perhaps more than any other topic. Video games were your favorite distraction. I tried my best to steer you away from them. Usually because I thought you had had enough. I realize I wasn't always right. I wanted you to recognize that your time here is limited. I wanted you to use that precious resource to acquire new skills, knowledge, and understanding. Things that would allow you to express yourself and help others.
I want you to remember to enjoy life, but not too much. If your life is merely the pursuit of pleasure, you will likely find yourself alone and leaving us too soon. You have more to offer this world than self indulgence. Focus on the work you feel driven to do, and try your best to have a good time doing it.
